Best Jewelry Boxes Quality Women

Taking just a glance at her can identify the essence of a woman. The way her clothes sit, how her hair lays, and very commonly, the jewelry that decorates her. Whether these ornaments have been passed down through generations, or revealed in box over a candlelit dinner, more vital than financial significance, is the emotional value that they hold.

With a piece of jewelry so important to the heart, why house it anywhere other than the finest women’s jewelry boxes. There is nothing worse than coming back to a jewelry box to find items mixed together, tarnished or broken. One may think that all jewelry boxes are the same; just made to hold the trinkets until a later time, but really they do so much more.

A superior women’s jewelry box encompasses multiple qualities that establish it’s worth. First and foremost is the material. Jewelry boxes made from heavy, sturdy woods such as oak, cherry, or mahogany can keep those precious items safe from weathering that can occur with temperatures too high, low or humid. They ward off incoming particles that are set out to damage the jewelry. They of course hold together when that accidental nudge on the dresser causes objects to crash to the floor.

Second to the outer material, is the jewelry box’s inner lining. The skin of a woman is soft, delicate and fine. This is where the jewelry sits when worn, and it should sit on nothing but the best when not being worn. That is why a quality women’s jewelry box is lined with a fine, quality fabric such as suede. Suede provides a safe surface that prevents wear, as well as non-slip fibers to keep those small items from sliding away.

The craftsmanship of the box is equally essential. Loose drawers, hinges and hooks that are made in a hurry can significantly hurt your jewelry and your fingers. Many have had those frustrating finger-pinching experiences with a faulty jewelry box. To avoid that incident, drawers should be made to fit snug, hinges and tops correctly aligned with the rest of the box, and hooks inserted securely.

The final, and definitely the most pleasurable part of choosing a quality women’s jewelry box is the design! There are an abundance of styles that jewelry boxes come in; one to fit nearly every woman’s needs. From travel to contemporary to even musical jewelry boxes, the list of shapes and sizes go on and on.

A very unique type of jewelry box that certainly stands out from the rest is the armoire jewelry box. Armoire jewelry boxes are taller and leaner in stature than traditional boxes, but add a certain classic touch with the resemblance to antique armoires that held garments from years past. These boxes range the most in size, going anywhere from the average dresser sitting jewelry box, to those that must be placed on the floor at over three feet tall. With doors that normally open from the side to reveal safekeeping for necklaces, drawers for bracelets, watches, rings and earrings, they house a woman’s valuables very chicly. Armoire jewelry boxes are ideal for the lady with an immense collection. Not only being used for their protection, but for their elegant decorative abilities.

It’s important for a woman to take a look at her collection of jewelry to determine which type of box is right for her. Simply counting the number of rings versus watches can decide the number of drawers, hangers or watch holders that are necessary. All women should remember that having too much space is never the problem; it is when there is too little that things become a bit jumbled. For women who feel they have no need for a jewelry box, they should bear in mind that the beauty and security of jewelry boxes are really just an expression of the beauty and security that all woman have from within.

Shopping Tips for Silver Jewelry for Your Jewelry Box

If you are in the market for a few silver pieces for your jewelry box, there are a few things to know before heading out on your shopping trip. Not all silver jewelry is created equal and by knowing what to look for, you can rest assured the silver jewelry you purchase for your jewelry box will bring you plenty of years of beautiful wear. Check out these tips on how to find the right silver jewelry for you.

Authenticity Matters

The first step in shopping for silver jewelry is to ensure the piece you want is authentic sterling silver. Real silver pieces will be marked with.925 or 925, which indicated the metal is 92.5% pure silver. Anything with less silver in the mix is unlikely to maintain its color over time. If you cannot find a stamp of the numbers, look for a stamp that says, “sterling,” or “sterl” to ensure you are purchasing the real thing.

Inspecting for Damage

Silver is a soft metal, so it is important to check a piece prior to purchase for dents and scratches. Pay special attention to clasps and other fasteners, checking that they are securely attached and that they work well for getting pieces on and off. If you purchase your jewelry box piece online, use retailers you are familiar with, and always check the store’s return policy before ordering, in case the piece does not get to you in pristine condition.

Choosing the Right Style

Sterling silver comes in a wide range of styles, so think about what you will be wearing with your jewelry pieces to ensure you choose items that will be versatile with your wardrobe. Consider the type of jewelry you wear most as well, before filling your jewelry box with a collection of rings or bracelets that might never make it out of the chest.

Keeping it Basic

When you are just starting your sterling silver collection, it might be best to purchase a few basic pieces that offer versatility and room for expansion later on. For example, a high quality silver chain can be dressed up with a variety of charms to add color and style to wardrobe ensembles. By the same token, a simple pair of silver hoop earrings will go with everything and take you from daytime to nighttime wear with ease.

Adding Gemstones

Sterling silver looks radiant when it is offset by colorful gemstones like blue topaz, rubies and emeralds. However, before you begin adding stones to your jewelry box collection, it is important to research the stones you like to ensure you purchase the highest quality you can afford. The quality of the silver is also important, since better silver will hold your gemstones in place more securely than cheaper variations.

Sterling silver jewelry is a lovely addition to any jewelry box, providing versatility in dressing up your favorite cocktail dress or your most comfortable blue jeans. By knowing what to look for in silver jewelry, you can rest assured the pieces you add to your jewelry box will be pieces you can enjoy wearing for many years to come.

3 Tips For Getting the Best Jewelry Making Tools For Wire Work

Anyone that wants to make great wire jewelry needs to have the right tools. Many newbies to jewelry making — and even some of us who have been doing this for awhile get a bit intimidated when it comes to the world of tools. Some jewelry makers actually get a bit stubborn, and attempt to make one single tool work for every possible configuration. It just doesn’t work! You really do need a variety of tools for best success.

Here’s my best beginners’ tool list (and a frugal minded one at that) for working with wire:

* The most important first: your pliers- flat-nose, chain-nose, round-nose

* A good quality pair of side flush cutters

* A good, smooth steel plate (this is a terrific substitute that is less expensive than a steel bench block)

* A hardware store hammer

* A small nylon or rawhide mallet

* A flat file (can find this at either the hardware store or a hobby store)

* Fine steel wool (for cleaning and polishing)

These tools will help you master wire work jewelry and create many beautiful pieces of jewelry.

Now that you know what you need, you might be wondering where to get these things.  Here are some tips so you don’t waste your money:

Tip #1:

Great tools can be found at the hardware store. “The hardware store?” you may ask, “that’s where the light bulbs and ladders live.” But no my little chickadee, you can find some of your jewelry making tools at the hardware store. Remember that you’ll be working with wire and that wire is stiff and hard. It makes perfect sense that your perfect tools would live at the hardware store, just waiting to be found. Get a hammer, flat file, steel wool and a nylon mallet — all at the hardware store! Best of all, often your hardware store jewelry making supplies will be less expensive than traditional craft store supplies!

Pay for quality so you don’t pay for mistakes.  This may seem funny to say after tip #1, but there is a time to spend the money.  Here’s where to spend your money: pliers.  Never EVER get your pliers from the hardware store.  Here’s here you need to splurge on the specialized stuff.

It seems like many wire work jewelry makers  scrimp a bit on their pliers  (been there, done that!) so they have extra money to spend on supplies. But this is just like charging something on your credit card so you don’t pay cash: not really a great bargain. You need quality pliers to see you through every wire work jewelry-making project that you do. If you purchase the cheapie pliers,  you’ll soon have trouble getting them to perform for you. There is nothing more frustrating than working on a great piece and having your tools not work as well as you do. The key to cutting costs is to know when – and pliers ain’t the place to save.  When it comes to pliers, you’re wise to purchase quality tools that keep up the pace!

Tip #3:

Wire work jewelry making kit tools can be a great deal. But you do need to investigate exactly what is included in that kit. Many craft kits are created so they can be given as gifts or purchased by a beginner who may not completely understand what they need. We’ve already talked about exactly what tools you need. So if you see a wire work tool kit that includes lots of great pliers and a hammer or other tools for a top-notch price, then that is a good deal. But if it doesn’t have the above tools and includes different types of tools then it is created for doing different types of jewelry and will not be useful for what you want to do.

Wire jewelry making is very dependent on having the right tools. The more informed you are about your tools — the stronger your jewelry making skills become.
